308 Anti-Nuclear March Calls for Zero Nuclear Power with Love and Respect
Today, on the route of the 308 Taichung anti-nuclear march, someone in the procession was heard saying: "We've been shouting for children, not nuclear power, for over twenty years since we were young, and today we're still out on the streets - we should change it to 'we want grandchildren, not nuclear power'!"
Since the Chernobyl nuclear disaster occurred, the Homemakers United Foundation has been involved in the anti-nuclear movement for 27 years. For these environmentalist mothers who insist on reducing waste at the source in their daily lives, if everyone could conserve electricity, where would the need for the Fourth Nuclear Power Plant be? Not to mention that nuclear power itself is not green energy, and the nuclear waste it produces has no solution to this day - this kind of "ten-thousand-year garbage" is truly the common enemy of environmentalist mothers.

Although lies are hollow, they are often very powerful; they dilute the love and respect between people and turn society into a heap of loose sand. The lie of nuclear safety is exactly like this. As early as 2002, when the government enacted the Basic Environment Act, it had already established the pursuit of a nuclear-free homeland as the ultimate goal. Yet in the national education curriculum, no course has ever been planned on the pros and cons of nuclear power, let alone knowledge and skills for responding to nuclear disaster events.
The authorities have long framed the "nuclear power issue" as a "political controversy," labeled anti-nuclear activists as political dissidents, and even disregarded public opinion by insisting on inserting fuel rods into the Fourth Nuclear Power Plant this year. All of this shows that they have never respected our love for the next generation and for our homeland.
Labeling the nuclear power issue as a political controversy is clearly a case of the government and the people being of two minds. For the mothers, devoting themselves to the anti-nuclear cause for more than twenty years was for nothing other than "home." For the mothers, letting children understand the physical deformities and disabilities of those children after the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, and even the plight of the forgotten animals after the Fukushima nuclear disaster, is valuable life education - it lets them know that when they use electricity, other living beings are bearing enormous risks to their lives.
Covering everything up with the lie of "nuclear safety" is not only cruel, but also disrespects children's right to education. Now, in order to win back respect and love, we are once again taking to the streets, and we believe that only when the government truly respects the people and loves this land can the goal of a nuclear-free homeland be achieved. And before that day comes, out of love and respect for their children, mothers and fathers will surely continue to take to the streets!
