Unpackaged pomelos help farmers more - we sell big pomelos
These past few days I made two trips in a row to Ruisui, hauling fifty bags of "big pomelos" to the Flower Expo and to the United Daily News, so our "big pomelos" are now on sale!
The Flower Expo organizers, CTi Television and the broadcasting company, were generous enough to give us three stalls, and they were also the spots closest to the MRT station. On the first day we sold out twenty bags, a thousand jin, of pomelos. Many older brothers and sisters bought again and again, and everyone said our pomelos were tasty and cheap. After we took pains to explain, everyone gradually came to understand that the Good People Movement is not about selling pomelos, but about pooling everyone's strength to push forward a social movement that helps farmers and helps ourselves.
Aizhu and Hongying of the United Daily News planned a five-day exhibition for us, and yesterday we already sold seven hundred jin of pomelos and fifty bags of iron eggs. Besides starting to sell big pomelos, we have also begun selling affordable eggs and affordable organic rice. That is, big pomelos at twenty yuan per jin, eggs at thirty-five yuan per jin, and Yinchuan organic white rice at one hundred yuan per kilogram.
These past few days we have sold nearly two thousand jin of big pomelos, over one hundred jin of eggs, and one hundred bags of iron eggs.
Besides regularly reporting on the Good People Movement for us, our colleagues at the United Daily News have now also become members of the Shanzai Shop.
We are very grateful for this kind of help, and we are also thinking about how these friends willing to take part in the Good People Movement can gain more mutual support.
For example, we want to establish a United Daily News Rice Day. By supplying rice on a fixed day each month, through everyone's meaningful reflection on consumption, we can help farmers with a cheaper price, direct delivery, and no packaging, and everyone can afford to eat organic rice.
The same goes for eggs. By holding an Egg Day, we can be four yuan cheaper than Carrefour.
We have started selling pomelos. Everyone rushes to buy from the farmers' homes the small pomelos that can fit into gift boxes; the slightly larger pomelos that grew well come from the same plot of land and the same tree, with the same sweetness and the same moisture, yet because they were too healthy and grew a little bigger, they can only pile up in the farmers' homes.
This year the typhoons avoided Hualien and Madou, so the proportion of good pomelos increased, with big pomelos making up about fifty percent. They are truly both cheap and delicious.
Although the economy is in recession, incomes have shrunk, and prices have risen, through everyone's efforts we can still make some improvements.
