How do you grow bok choy so it gets big and healthy? Growing tips shared
"Do you know how to grow large, beautiful leafy greens?"
The film KANO moved every viewer with its "papaya theory" of the papaya and the nail(Note 1), and it also stirred memories of history among many people in Chiayi. In 1919 the Chiayi School of Agriculture and Forestry under the Government-General of Taiwan was founded, making it the first agriculture and forestry school in Taiwan at the time, and the KANO baseball team was established in 1928. While they won glory for baseball in Taiwan, the fighting-to-the-end, never-give-up "KANO spirit" they showed can still move everyone deeply even across different times and backgrounds today.
KANO baseball team V.S. Chiayi University Farming Team
This "KANO baseball team," made up of Taiwanese, indigenous peoples and Yamato people, was once jokingly called an unprofessional "cocktail team," but with indigenous players running fast, Taiwanese players hitting hard, and Japanese players excelling at defense, each drew on their strengths and complemented one another, creating Taiwan's glorious baseball memories and earning the name "KANO of the World."
The Chiayi University Farming Team is now heading into its second year since it was founded. Seeing vegetable seedlings slowly grow into large, beautiful, emerald-green vegetables, so that consumers can buy with peace of mind, eat with confidence and even feel happy, is what drives the team's constant persistence and dedication! If the difficulties encountered in Taiwan's continued agricultural progress are the battlefield the farming team must face, then please bear witness with us to its growth and keep moving forward, so that agriculture in Taiwan can stand on the international stage and earn the name "Taiwan of the World"!
Note 1: In the film KANO, it is explained that if a papaya cannot bear fruit, you can drive a nail into the base of the papaya. The papaya thinks it is about to die, so it struggles desperately to grow and ultimately produces huge, plump, beautiful fruit.
Note 2: Chiayi University was founded on agriculture and possesses quite rich agricultural technology resources. It hopes to integrate relevant industry-academia resources to establish a complete upstream, midstream and downstream platform, and to form a center-satellite organization with local small farmers in the Chiayi area, helping traditional agriculture transform, raise added value.
