Ershui Elementary School library construction has been unfinished for two years; parents are donating books so children can read
What was originally thought to be just a library exterior renovation dragged on with loud construction in Ershui Township for nearly two years! Principal Wu Chun-yen of Ershui Elementary School kept asking when it would be finished, and always heard that they would have to wait even longer, which made him very anxious. Unable to bear seeing the schoolchildren with no books to read, Huang Kai-yun, a mother whose son and daughter both attend Ershui Elementary School, learned of the situation when the school held a parent meeting for the new semester, and decided to help the principal launch a book donation drive, so the school could have a library too!
Reading cannot be delayed; when the hardware is not ready, start with the software

Huang Kai-yun, who is mainly helping with this book donation campaign, is both an alumna and the mother of two students at the school. For Kai-yun, she received the beauty that reading brings during her own upbringing, and now as a mother, she hopes even more that the children of this beautiful small town can all appreciate the wonder of reading.
"I really hope everyone can take the books at home that they no longer need and donate them to Ershui Elementary School in Ershui Township, to enrich the school's collection and also enrich the hearts of the children of Ershui Elementary School," said Kai-yun.
Reading is the foundation of all learning. In order to let the children of Ershui develop a reading habit from an early age, Principal Wu began this semester a reading movement joined by all faculty, staff, and alumni. In addition to the school's long-standing classics recitation activities, every Thursday morning from 8:00 to 8:35 is designated as [Quiet Reading] time, when all teachers, students, and school workers must put down the work in their hands and read quietly together on campus. Principal Wu hopes that in this way the reading atmosphere can be further fostered, allowing the children's minds to settle down and immerse themselves together in the world of books.
