Hexing Elementary School's Mouth Revolution: A Live Report from Elizabeth's Visit to Hukou
"Excellent!"
Mrs. Elizabeth Henderson, a pioneer who has long promoted the community-supported agriculture movement in the United States, visited Hexing Elementary School in Hukou Township, Hsinchu County, on October 11 to learn about an elementary school in Taiwan that promotes organic nutritious lunches while integrating lesson plans into the curriculum to bring the concepts of global warming and food miles into education. She could not help but give a thumbs-up in approval!
Elizabeth, who was visiting Taiwan for the second time, toured Hexing Elementary School at the arrangement of Wu Tung-chieh, chief executive officer of the Green Formosa Front. Wu Tung-chieh said the purpose of this trip was to tell Elizabeth that "Taiwan also has successful CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) cases." Elizabeth also believed that Hexing Elementary School's approach of combining nutritious lunches with organic vegetables and food education is a very distinctive CSA practice and is worth other schools' reference.
