Recently the media has been reporting intensely on the Ding Wang incident, in which the group was heavily fined 2.8 million yuan by the Taichung City Health Bureau, which made us realize that the Health Bureau can actually be this tough??!! What surprised us is that previously, when the Homemakers United Foundation asked for the release of the school lunch sampling results, the Taichung City Health Bureau kept stressing to us, when we requested the release of information such as the names of substandard suppliers, that suppliers should be given a chance to improve, citing reasons such as "punishing without teaching is called tyranny."
Compared with the Health Bureau's immediate release of food safety information related to Ding Wang recently, it is clear that the media find it hard to "break the story," and the school food safety situation that mothers cannot keep abreast of in time is even more worrying. Looking at this two-faced approach to safeguarding food safety, one cannot help but want to ask: is Ding Wang the unluckier one, or are the students the unluckier ones?
