After the rice harvest, the golden, glittering Gongliao water terraces,

have turned into a low-key but colorful paradise of aquatic insects and aquatic plants!

Let us get to know the happy little creatures living in the water terraces,

and together look for the numerous and uniquely flavored white-flowered perilla,

as an ingredient for the afternoon seasonal snack DIY!

There are three sessions, choose one to register for:

Saturday session–2014/10/4, Tuesday session–2014/10/7 (Monghoho departs from Taipei City)

Sunday session–2014/10/5 (participants drive themselves to Gongliao; for details, please refer to the registration notes)

The taste of Gongliao's satoyama

  • A private meal of the people of Gongliao.
  • Chat with the satoyama families.
  • Screening of the film "Monghoho Annual Record," sharing the story of Gongliao water terrace conservation.
  • The Lishan small market is here, don't miss the local agricultural products and cultural creative knick-knacks!

  • Besides the rice ears, what function does the "rice stubble" left in the field after harvest serve?
  • Watch how the water terrace expert tames the ox and plows the field, and experience the bond between people and oxen and the connection between the creatures underfoot and the land.

[Can I join the Monghoho Autumn Mini Trip?]

If you are a student at the senior high or vocational school level or above, or an adult, or in the third grade of elementary school or above accompanied by a parent, and you have carefully read the activity reminders in the brochure and assessed that you are willing and able to join this activity that may involve sun and wind, then you are welcome to register.

[Activity reminders and notes]

  1. The Monghoho production team takes environmental conservation and local cultural heritage as its purpose, so the activity will carefully and strictly maintain friendliness toward residents' lives and the environment. During the activity, please cooperate and follow the guidelines of the leaders.
  2. Please bring your own eco-friendly chopsticks, drinking water, and rain gear, and consider preparing spare personal clothing.
  3. In support of the promotion of the water terrace conservation project, images will be taken. Please only decide to participate after you can accept and agree to this. We will ask you to fill out a portrait rights consent form before the trip, ensuring that your consent is limited to supporting this conservation project.

[How to register? How to pay the fee? Will I receive a notice?]

1. Online registration opens from 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 1, 2014 until one week before the activity, but closes once full! Please go to the [Monghoho Small Granary] BLOG (http://monghoho.blogspot.tw/) and click Activity Info and Registration to register.

  • For the two sessions on 10/4 and 10/7, Monghoho will charter a 20-seat Type B large passenger bus, gathering and departing from Taipei Station, and the activity fee includes the bus fare; for the 10/5 session, participants drive themselves and gather in Gongliao, and the activity fee does not include the bus fare.
  • Join 10/4 or 10/7 (Monghoho departs from Taipei City): 1,200 yuan per person. Includes: minibus transportation, lunch and snacks, instructors and activity leaders, activity accident insurance (1 million accident insurance + 100,000 accident medical reimbursement), materials and environmental maintenance, administrative fees. Any surplus will support the conservation operations of the Monghoho production team.
  • Join 10/5 (participants drive themselves to Gongliao): 800 yuan per person. Includes: lunch and snacks, instructors and activity leaders, activity accident insurance (1 million accident insurance + 100,000 accident medical reimbursement), materials and environmental maintenance, administrative fees. Any surplus will support the conservation operations of the Monghoho production team.

2. Monghoho will send out a pre-trip notice one week before the activity day, so please be sure to fill in your e-mail clearly.
