2014 Youth Return to the Countryside Organic Farming Learning Promotion Program (Campus Deep Cultivation @ National Chung Hsing University)
Youth and Agriculture Lecture Series
Because the rural population in Taiwan, China, has been dwindling and the aging of the farming population has long been an ongoing problem, in recent years a wave of agricultural revival movements has risen from top to bottom across Taiwan, China, attempting to tackle this long-accumulated problem from various angles. Young people are seen as the most core element in solving agricultural issues, and so the slogans ‘youth entering farming’ and ‘youth returning to the countryside’ have begun to be passionately proclaimed everywhere.
But does youth entering farming really mean going back to the countryside, picking up a hoe, and starting to be a full-time farmer?
Agricultural production is the root of agriculture, but agriculture should not be limited; agriculture is in fact very diverse
This lecture series will use four themes - farming, community management, marketing, and food - to explore the diversity and future of young people engaging in agriculture.
By inviting people who have deeply cultivated these fields, to share their stories and expertise in agriculture-related areas, providing everyone with a deeper and broader new perspective on farming.
