2017 Guandu Nature Park Food and Agriculture School Activity Introduction
Come on! Stop telling jokes like rice growing on trees,
Come be an urban farmer, start a dialogue with the land, and turn your understanding of food upside down!
Step away from the busyness and noise of the city and return to nature's embrace,
and ask out loud together with your children: Where does food come from?
We will start with a bowl of rice on the dining table, leading everyone to trace the origins of rice and reveal what it originally looked like. Through hands-on rice planting, you will learn about the journey of food from production to the table, explore the hottest food and agriculture topics together (eating seasonal and local ingredients, food additives, friendly farming), learn to observe your own eating habits and purchasing choices, and guide children to understand food and experience its original flavors.
What sparks will we create with this land in 2017? Right now, we are calling on like-minded partners to cultivate the same plot of land together, observe the growth of rice seedlings through all four seasons, and write the story together.
