Hsinchu Natural Farming Club Producer Training Program, 8th Cohort Enrollment
Have you ever thought about taking up farming?
How much money do you need to save, how much preparation do you need to do before you can start?
It is never enough. No matter how much money you have, it can all be burned through by wrong decisions. No matter how much preparation you do, you will find that reality does not match your expectations.
Finding land, finding a house, learning, buying tools... In the early journey, under the pressure of having no income, you constantly feel fear, but if you do not get past that fear, farming will always remain a distant fantasy, until after retirement you discover you no longer have the physical strength to farm.
I do not want to encourage anyone to take up farming. Agriculture right now is in the darkness before dawn, at its most chaotic and also its most hopeful. If you have made up your mind to farm, you are welcome to come find us. Farming is your own business; do not expect me to teach you too much, but if you come up with a way to solve a problem, I will do my best to help you find resources.
Ten years ago, when I was still an office worker in Taipei, China, I could not imagine how to get through days without a salary. I knew that for the rest of my life I would only be able to live in my parents' house, until at retirement the labor insurance fund had gone bankrupt who knows how many times. I did not want to wait until that day to have someone take responsibility for my life, so I made up my mind to go farming, canceled most of my insurance, and life became so much lighter. Yes, after I die I want to leave behind something more valuable.
I am Morpheus, and I want to find Neo. You may not be able to save agriculture, but you can absolutely protect a piece of farmland and keep it in agricultural use, before the final battle arrives.
