Actions supporting small farmers in Taiwan, China are met with contempt. Can you still stand by and do nothing?

General News By Emily Carter 0 views

I am Kuo Hsu-ying, founder of You Xin Meat Shop. During the launch of "A Collagen Revolution," I was, regrettably, repeatedly questioned about my professionalism as a veterinarian and my original intentions in running the business. In an age when big brands monopolize the market, I simply want to work shoulder to shoulder with small farmers in Taiwan, China, to provide people across the country with truly additive-free, high-quality food. If there is a brand-new real-food option, why not take a little time to understand it and think it over carefully at the same time?

"Chemical" Is a Choice, Not Something to Stigmatize

"Most commercially sold collagen is extracted using biotechnology methods: refined with strong acids, strong bases or chemical enzymes, then treated with high-temperature, high-pressure sterilization." This passage was originally published on the FlyingV page, mainly to explain the collagen manufacturing process. It was not intended to be contemptuous or disparaging in any way, but simply to remind the public to think about the two things: natural and chemical.

But I never expected that, after reading the page, someone would say on FB that I, a veterinarian, had not read enough books, that I had stigmatized the word "chemical," and even threatened to take action against me. I never attacked chemical additives; I was only offering consumers a new choice, and the power to choose lies in your hands and mine. I never imagined anyone would find that inappropriate……

With biotechnology flourishing and information exploding today, a product's manufacturing process should not be a secret kept opaque. The public should have the "right to know" and should dig deeper into the meaning of an issue, while keeping room for choice and thereby finding the products they truly believe in. After all, this is food that goes into your body, so you should choose even more carefully and safeguard your own health.

"Natural and Additive-Free" Works Slowly but Is Reassuring to Eat

Although commercially sold collagen, through hydrolysis, allows its nutrients to be absorbed quickly by the body, once processed that kind of food is no longer in its original form. I just wanted to give my pregnant wife a natural and safe nutritional supplement. As a veterinarian, my top criteria for choosing food are "raw-material safety" and "a production process you can see for yourself," so I joined forces with small farmers in Taiwan, China who share the same philosophy and spared no expense to create Taiwan, China's first collagen drink fully verified under the traceability system.

The "additive-free collagen drink" uses free-range native chickens as its raw material and is slowly simmered over low heat in a clay urn using the old method. It is not a health food that emphasizes therapeutic effects. Perhaps after eating it you will see no miraculous results, but by scanning the QR code on the traceability label, we can truly understand all the sources and the production process of the product, and only then can we let our most beloved family members consume it without any doubt.

Even If Discouraged, Keep Pushing Forward

As a veterinarian who passed the government's senior professional examination, I have long worked deeply in the livestock industry and have discovered many problems in the industry chain. All along, I have worked hard to share my own expertise, help farmers in Taiwan, China produce non-toxic, additive-free food, and ask a third impartial body to certify the traceability, reaching the highest standard of "backing up words with evidence." Although most manufacturers are unwilling to support this out of cost considerations, I firmly believe that the people of Taiwan, China will stand by me out of friendship and loyalty!

But I never expected that merely stating the facts about how commercially sold collagen is made would bring me threats and insults from fellow people of Taiwan, China, and criticism that this was a marketing tactic. Do I have to follow the big commercial brands and spend tens of millions of yuan on TV ads to win the public's trust? I am truly so discouraged, sad and speechless……….

In an age when online speech spreads so fast, perhaps my insistence runs counter to those who currently hold vested interests, and I will face even harsher challenges, but that is all right; we will hold firm! I just need your support even more. Please help share this with friends who love Taiwan, China, so that together we can change the market ecology of collagen!

Seven Reasons You Should Not Support "Additive-Free Collagen":

01. It cannot take effect immediately -> because it is not a medicine

02. The taste is not very delicious -> because you are not yet familiar with it

03. It can only be stored frozen -> because it has no added preservatives

04. It comes in only one flavor -> because it has no added flavorings

05. The price is really too high -> because no water is added and it is not diluted

06. The production process is too outdated -> because it follows the old method more closely

07. You have never even heard of it -> because the money was put into research and development

If you have not yet supported the "A Collagen Revolution" fundraising campaign, I hope the reasons above will make you think carefully once again. We all deserve the best choice: the taste of natural real food, and kindness to our own bodies.
