"Tidal Realm" ceases publication, ocean lovers send letters to keep the magazine alive

News broke recently that the quarterly journal Chaoting (Tidal Realm), published by the National Museum of Marine Science and Technology, has ceased publication. This quarterly, which ran for 2 years for a total of 8 issues, had a very different tone from conventional museum publications. It carried no dense academic research; instead, it packaged hard marine knowledge in an entertaining way, for example using the yellow rubber duck craze to introduce topics such as how ocean currents work and marine debris, and with its beautiful layout it won over many ocean-loving readers. Now the museum has put all 8 issues of the Chaoting quarterly series online for the public to read

Abruptly ceased publication last October; electronic reading and paper copies preserve it

The Chaoting quarterly decided to cease publication last October due to factors including the museum's budget, and when the news came out many readers felt it was a great pity; some netizens even launched a campaign to write letters to the museum's director. In response, Qiu Yiting said it really is a shame, and that she still hopes to continue reporting on many domestic and international marine issues for the reading public.
