Organic Wax Apple Tree Adoption Program: Hear the Sweet and Crisp Sound of Bells
Let the land be full of life, and work like a gardener. That is how Gong Mingshan defines himself.
Wax apple (bell fruit) is widely recognized as the fruit hardest to grow under organic certification, but this is the fruit tree his father chose to plant, and letting the wax apple orchard branch out and flourish is the only thing Gong Mingshan wants to do.
During the wax apple season from January to May, Gong Mingshan's orchard will arrange several experiential events and wax apple creative cuisine tasting activities, and will open 50 fruit trees for adoption. Gong Mingshan says: "As long as someone needs the wax apples I grow, I will keep working to supply them!" He hopes to deliver this rare fruit into the hands of people who can enjoy tasting it.
[Fruit Tree Adoption] Mingshan Organic Orchard. The tender, dripping wax apple is a new variety introduced from Thailand in the past decade, commonly known as: Ruby, Zhuangyuanhong, and Bullet Wax Apple. Its texture is crisp and juicy, with a mild, warm aroma.
Even though the concept of "organic" has taken deep root in consumers' awareness, consumers are still always unfamiliar with what crops naturally look like. Brother Mingshan says that the closer a farming method is to nature, the more uncontrollable factors there are. "Fruit harvested in different seasons, and even fruit from different positions on the same tree, all have different flavors, but consumers may not necessarily accept that!"
The fruit undergoes nature's tests, and only after being successfully picked and carefully selected can it be shipped! Even for a product that has been granted by heaven and chosen by people, there are always endless customer complaints. Consumers examine the product according to the flawless fruit appearance in their minds, and in turn question the farmer's production methods, "as if the taste of organic is for them to decide!" This kind of consumer-side reaction frustrates Brother Mingshan even more than the challenges on the production side.
Looking back on years of production and sales conflicts, Brother Mingshan believes that only letting consumers truly understand the orchard's production process is the best solution to resolve disagreements between production and sales! Therefore, starting in the new year, the orchard will open 50 fruit trees for adoption, guaranteeing each tree yields 200 Taiwan jin, and will arrange several orchard visit and experience activities, inviting the public and adopters to participate together in the organic journey of the wax apple's flowering and fruiting.
