Building your own secret cabin is easier than you think

Zack Klein is a co-founder of the well-known video platform Vimeo, yet he fell in love with building cabins in the forest, starting from gatherings with family and close friends and developing into a place for working and living together. To share his experience, he founded the "Cabin Porn" website, collecting photos and stories of secret cabins around the world, and later gathered the best content into the book "Cabin Porn" (Chinese translation). The following is an excerpt from Zack Klein's article, published with authorization from "Persimmon Culture" (video source: Cabin Porn)

"Beaver Brook Cabin", a distant place of infinite possibility

I need a distant place of infinite possibility. In the past, I spent six years building an online community, and this time, I want to build a community in the real world, especially a place where family and close friends can step outdoors to enjoy brunch, a place where we can set work aside for a while, support one another, and learn new skills together.

"Beaver Brook Cabin" is a place both abundant and lacking: the trout are just the right size to fill your belly; every summer an international firefly gathering is held; and in winter, countless squirrels and snowshoers traverse the frozen stream. Most of the houses here have no plumbing, no electricity, no soundproof walls, and no cell phone signal (some of us have gone to the highest point on the mountain to catch a faint signal).

Most days are utterly silent, though sometimes you hear howls, and anything left outside will be covered in a pile of mouse droppings by the next day, but we just love this kind of life.
