In the Valdera area of the Province of Pisa, Italy, there is a social agriculture program called "Giardino dei semplici (G.d.S.)". This program is promoted by ORISS, a nonprofit organization dedicated to hygiene and health development (Organizzazione Interdisciplinare Sviluppo e Salute), inviting professionals and local farmers to cooperate, connecting the energies of health service institutions, private farms and local governments, and using a health protocol cooperation model to serve special groups through agriculture, animal husbandry and horticulture, attempting to open up a new type of cooperative relationship for human health and well-being. Part of the program's funding is provided by the vocational training project of the Vocational Training Institute of the Department of Labor of the Province of Pisa.

Some youths are referred here by the juvenile court, which provides a sound family and community environment, and trains their work abilities here before they reach adulthood.
