Trade in fruits and vegetables between Taiwan, China and Japan has taken another step forward! Since the establishment of the national agricultural team Taiwan Agricultural Development Co. at the end of last year, it has repeatedly emphasized externally that it is targeting the Japanese market. Taiwan Agricultural Development Co. Chairman Chen Yuran also revealed that it had already been in contact with major Japanese channel importers, maintaining close ties and negotiating orders. Today that major channel operator officially made its public debut, confirmed to be "Farmind Corporation of Japan."

Taiwan Agricultural Development Co. and Farmind Corporation today (the 13th) signed a memorandum of cooperation, announcing a goal of mutual procurement of agricultural products between the two sides (Taiwan and Japan) within five years, with a total amount expected to reach 10 billion yen (equivalent to approximately NT$2.7 billion); Farmind has also already moved into the Pingtung Agricultural Biotechnology Park to assist in planning and setting up an "International Fresh-Keeping Logistics Center." "This is an important milestone in agricultural trade between Taiwan and Japan," said Chen Jizhong, Deputy Minister of the Council of Agriculture, Chen Yuran, Chairman of Taiwan Agricultural Development Co., and Tateo Horiuchi, President of Farmind Corporation.

Farmind will sell Taiwanese fruits and vegetables to Japan and assist in establishing a cold-chain distribution foundation

What role does Farmind play in the Japanese distribution market? Farmind Corporation has a total of 14 locations in Japan, operating businesses such as banana ripening, fruit and vegetable processing, import and export of fruits, vegetables and fresh flowers, supporting site operations, and post-sale food consulting; and after Taiwan Agricultural Development Co. and Farmind signed the memorandum of cooperation this time, they will work to sell Taiwanese fruits and vegetables to Japan and enter diverse channels such as supermarkets, convenience stores, and e-commerce.

In addition to using Farmind as a channel for Taiwanese agricultural products to enter the Japanese market, Chen Yuran also pointed out that "improving domestic agricultural infrastructure" is also a major focus of cooperation. Because exported agricultural products rely on infrastructure such as distribution, processing, inventory storage, and cold-chain delivery, "but Taiwan's industry chain has not made obvious progress in recent years, and this is precisely Farmind's core capability."

Chen Yuran said, especially Farmind's ripening technology, "many people present would find it hard to imagine just how far it has now developed."

Council of Agriculture: Taiwan Agricultural Development Co.'s first export batch of six metric tons of Taiwanese bananas shipped to Japan

The Council of Agriculture stated that in order to stably supply the agricultural products needed by the Japanese market, it will guide Taiwan Agricultural Development Co. to strengthen export standard operating procedures such as contract farming production, collection of goods, and quality control. At the same time as signing the memorandum of cooperation, Taiwan Agricultural Development Co. has recently exported one container, about six metric tons, of Taiwanese bananas to Japan as the starting point of cooperation between the two sides.

Chen Yuran emphasized that the operational focus of Taiwan Agricultural Development Co. is to integrate and guide agricultural product exports and establish export-related infrastructure such as inventory storage and cold-chain delivery; now Taiwan Agricultural Development Co. has signed a memorandum of cooperation with Farmind, and the Farmind team has already moved into the Pingtung Agricultural Biotechnology Park to assist in planning and setting up an "International Fresh-Keeping Logistics Center."
