Can food education legislation safeguard safety on the dining table?

General News By Emily Carter 0 views

Food safety problems keep emerging, and one of the fundamental solutions is to give priority to enacting a "Taiwan Food Education Basic Law"!

What is the Food Education Basic Law? How far has the legislative process in Taiwan, China progressed so far?

In 2014, on World Health Day, the Yilan County Government introduced the "Yilan County Dietary Health Right Self-Governance Ordinance" (draft), taking the lead in advocating the idea that "eating safely is a basic right of the people" and that the right to health is a basic human right. After the draft is passed, schools may not provide food that endangers health, and may not use containers that endanger health to hold hot food and beverages, and the public can even receive a reward for reporting food safety violations.

Take charge of your own food safety!!! From the "Yilan County Dietary Health Right Self-Governance Ordinance", what kind of expectations and actions can we have toward each local government?
