Five servings of vegetables and fruit a day for a happier body and mind
Eat more vegetables and fruit to make your body happier! The Dong Foundation released a survey report today and found that one third of people across Taiwan are physically unhappy. Further analysis found that the frequency and amount of vegetable and fruit intake are directly proportional to the body's happiness signals: among those who ate the full 3 vegetables and 2 fruits almost every day, 77% felt happy; among those who did not eat enough, only 61% did; but among those who ate 5 or more servings of vegetables and fruit, the body's happiness signals did not continue to rise, showing that eating enough, appropriately sufficient vegetables and fruit is very important.
Last month, the Dong Foundation conducted the "2013 National Survey on the Body's Happiness Signals," using online sampling by population ratio across northern, central, southern, and eastern Taiwan, surveying a total of 1,068 people aged 15 and above. Body happiness was divided into five major physiological and psychological signals: "skin beauty power," "immunity power," "smoothness power," "comfort and vitality power," and "pleasure power," and each signal was then assessed with 4 items regarding physical condition over the most recent month.
The Dong Foundation said that five servings of vegetables and fruit a day is not just a slogan; if you want to strengthen your body and relieve stress, you do not need to spend a lot of money. Eating more vegetables and fruit is the simplest and most economical good method. Many studies have shown that eating the full five servings of vegetables and fruit every day can help extend lifespan, make the body and mood healthier and happier, and help improve quality of life.
