Gongliao Water Terraces Hehe Mini Tour: Getting to Know the Many Uses of Wild Grasses

General News By Emily Carter 0 views

From winter to spring, as mountain mist rises and fades, the weather gradually warms again. While the wild grasses are at their tenderest, farmers gather Japanese pearlwort (Hypericum japonicum), water willow (Justicia procumbens), and fleabane (Conyza canadensis) to make blended herbal teas, or pick black nightshade (Solanum nigrum) and houttuynia (Houttuynia cordata) for cooking, filling the gap between abundance and scarcity as the seasons change. This year the cold snap came late, and the mountain village of Gongliao is a bit colder still. The belated sensory feast of wild flowers and grasses is being offered exclusively to friends on this small tour. We invite you to stroll through the gradually warming Gongliao water terraces, chat with farmers about the hundred crafts of wild grasses, and taste herbal teas and dishes made from various blended recipes.(To give both families with children and adults a full experience, "Hehe Small Tour: The Hundred Crafts of Wild Grasses" is divided into two activity sessions: 4/28 (Fri) for adults, 5/6 (Sat) for families with children; you may register according to your needs)
