Hsinchu Natural Farming Club Producer Training, Session 8, Now Enrolling

General News By Emily Carter 0 views

Recently, I was invited to two meetings. The themes were different, but both touched on friendly farming methods and sustainable rural communities, and both pointed out the same problem: aging farmers are about to retire with no successors, and many farm fields are about to face abandonment.

Lately, I have also often seen farming friends' farms looking for people, whether for farming partners, apprentices, work-exchange stays, or volunteers, all of which point to one thing: farming families are busy, there is a lot of farm work, and there are not enough hands.

Farmland needs to be preserved, and farmers also need successors.
The making of a farmer requires a very long time, sufficient conviction, and perseverance.

The Hsinchu Natural Farming Club's Shu-Mei Natural Farming Park is not a farm; it is a place that provides land, teaching, and experience sharing. It has teachers, students, professional farmers in training and their farms. It recruits learning partners every year, with the goal of encouraging more people to be willing to step onto the path of agriculture, so that Shu-Mei Natural Farming and its farmers can blossom everywhere.

If you have ever fantasized about cultivating a plot of land in the countryside, you are welcome to muster your courage and cast off your restraints to sign up for full-time Shu-Mei natural farmer training. We will gather everyone's feet and kick you together into the embrace of Mother Earth, so that between each breath you can feel life anew, make field labor and learning part of your daily life, and eventually become an independent farming household.
