In March, loquats ripen, making it the perfect season to enjoy their fresh flavor.
You can't get a group together for travel, but you can definitely get one together for food.
I'm going to organize a loquat group buy.
Trust me, I don't like eating loquats.
I haven't liked them since I was a kid.
Here's why:
First: they're hard to peel, and as an action-oriented Sagittarius, I'd rather gnaw on an apple or eat a banana.
Second: they don't taste good. Really, I'm not deliberately slandering loquats. The loquats I ate in the past tasted bland and flavorless, but my mom loves them, so she often bought me those "premium loquats" at several hundred yuan a box, and I'd let them rot and then secretly throw them away, not daring to tell my mom.
Third: I've heard loquats are heavily sprayed with pesticides. I'm afraid of dying, so I don't dare touch loquats even more.
I don't like eating loquats, and yet I'm going to organize a group buy for loquats?
Trust me, I stayed for two days in Piyaway, where the loquats are produced. Although it was only two days, I'm naturally sensitive and fussy about people and the environment, and I can tell real from fake. The indigenous community of Piyaway does its organic farming for real.
I didn't get to eat loquats, because when I visited (2/16’17) the loquats weren't ripe yet, but while we were out walking we happened upon a fruit grower, who pulled all the ripe oranges off the trees for us to eat. They were fresh, sweet and mellow (I can only borrow wine-tasting terms) …..These were the best oranges I've ever eaten in my life. My son and I peeled one after another, and I completely forgot that I actually don't like eating oranges either, because they're a hassle to peel.
So, I plan to go on a killing spree (killing loquats for eating, Amitabha!), and order a good batch of loquats to try. I have faith in the Piyaway community.
Every penny we spend in Piyaway can support their organic farming. This not only gives the community income (living expenses, children's education fees), but also preserves for ourselves a clean and pure environment, allowing people and nature to try to live in harmony. When the day comes that the world falls apart, we may truly need these friends who spend their lives caring for the land to teach us how to survive.
Everyone, let's organize a group buy! The details and the fruit are in the linked webpage, and you can order for yourselves. If you don't want the hassle, I'll place the order on everyone's behalf.
The loquats we usually buy at the market, a shallow layer of ten of them cushioned on a pink soft pad, cost about two hundred yuan. Piyaway's loquats come about 15 to 20 per bag (one jin), originally priced at 320 yuan, with a pre-order price of 300 yuan before 3/4. Because it's ordered directly from small farmers, the price is even cheaper than loquats grown with conventional farming methods (the usual method of spraying chemical fertilizers and pesticides). Ten boxes and shipping is free.
I'll order ten boxes myself, which already qualifies for free shipping. The rest of you can add your own amounts on top of my quantity and buy together with me, and I'll pass them on to everyone. If you can order ten boxes or more yourself, then shipping is free and you can specify your own delivery address, so you don't have to go through me!
Let's all organize a group buy and walk the 39 together, and also organize a group buy to support organic farming and support the indigenous community's friendship with the earth.
Note: The content of the linked webpage below was originally intended to sell April loquats, so the title is "Order April Loquats," but due to climate factors, the loquats unexpectedly ripened early, so now we've ended up ordering March loquats (the copy hasn't been changed, so please don't misunderstand and think you're ordering April loquats).

[Postscript] Living loquats
I grabbed a batch of loquats from 89, who helps Piyaway with shipping
I tried them yesterday and the day before, tasty, but the sweetness wasn't as high as I'd imagined
I gave some to friends to eat, and they all said, they're so sweet!
They said they'd eaten plenty of flavorless loquats
Today is the third day,
I peeled one and ate it
How scary!
The sweetness has doubled
These are living loquats
After staying at my home for three days
The sweetness keeps increasing
Dear friends
You should order this batch of loquats and give them a try!
I want to tell you
If they're not sweet, I'll refund your money
(As if I were some roadside fruit-selling lady!)
Piyaway, love you!
Loquats, love you!
