A summer food-and-farming challenge camp just for kids, where children learn food and farming knowledge while they play
In recent years, as food safety issues have kept emerging, many people have begun to examine the sources and ingredients of the food they eat every day in order to eat with greater peace of mind. Parents with children at home, in particular, hope to check every layer for the sake of the next generation's health and want their children to eat healthily. But once children who have received attentive care from their parents leave their parents' side, do they still have the ability to safeguard their own health when it comes to diet? Or is it that whenever they decide their own meals, they will always choose fried chicken rather than vegetables and fruit? And if they are going to cook, will they only pour hot water over instant noodles rather than wash rice and cook it? And could this also be the reason children cannot truly get to know the taste of food?
Is it really so hard for children to choose good food for themselves? Not at all! Not at all! This summer, "Satoyama Juku" wants to invite "children who want to become able to make smart decisions about their own diet" to join the "Summer Food and Farming Grand Challenge" together!
This round of Satoyama Juku's "Summer Food and Farming Challenge Camp" is a three-day, two-night overnight camp, with activity dates of 7/20 (Wed) - 7/22 (Fri). At the same time, in order to provide a quality learning experience, only 20 challengers will be accepted for registration! Students advancing to grade 4 through grade 7 after the summer vacation are welcome to take on the challenge!
Are you tempted? Sign up quickly - register before the end of June and you can still get the early-bird discount!! For activity content and registration information, please see the brochure.
Still worried that the timing does not work for you and that you cannot register for the July children-only food and farming challenge camp?
Congratulations everyone, we have decided to open an additional August session! Because the August food and farming challenge camp comes after the harvest season has already passed, this time we will take on the challenge of protecting the paddy fields - safeguarding our food, and of course there will also be the indispensable challenges of cooking and choosing food yourself!! The activity dates are 8/11 (Thu) - 8/13 (Sat), with the same limit of only 20 places, also with an early-bird discount, please see the brochure for details.
In addition, through open selection, we will provide two public-interest places per session for children from low-income households to attend the camp free of charge. For registration methods and registration times, please see the public-interest version of the brochure. We also ask friends from all walks of life to pass on this good news to those who qualify or to relevant organizations, and encourage children to strive for the opportunity to take part!
