General News By Emily Carter 0 views

Have you ever grown rice?
Is there a patch of your old family farmland in your memory?
Do you miss the feeling of bare feet on the soil?
Have you almost forgotten that food comes from the land?

Guandu Nature Park's popular course "Guandu Farmer's Chronicle" is specially offering an adults-only edition. College students, homemakers, freelancers and retirees who want to get close to nature and experience farming are welcome to sign up and join!

This course will explore the rice-growing process together, learn about environmentally friendly farming methods and food-agriculture topics (seasonal fruits and vegetables, eco-friendly farming, food additives), and let you work the same plot of land, observe the growth of rice seedlings through all four seasons, and experience the deep emotion of close contact with the land.

1. Course features:

Both active and quiet, experiential learning -- learn by doing, and in the end you can even take home a small bag of rice earned through your hard work!
Pay once, participate throughout -- the course content is continuous; after the activity begins, no refunds will be given for taking leave from a single session!
Plant-based meals cut carbon, say goodbye to the "three highs" -- lunch provides plant-based food from friendly small farms: love the Earth, love animals, and love yourself even more!

2. Activity schedule:

04/09(Thu) 1200-1700 Spring plowing -- seasonal eating, rice planting, piling field ditches, digging field ridges
05/21 (Thu) 1200-1700 Summer cultivation -- eco-friendly farming, pest removal, weeding, making scarecrows
07/30 (Thu) 1200-1700 Autumn harvest -- small-farm economics, harvesting, threshing, winnowing experience
11/18 (Thu) 1200-1700 Winter storage -- food additives, making fa gao (steamed rice cakes), sweet potato roasting
Bonus session: rice milling experience (held after the autumn harvest, subject to the rice mill's schedule, notified separately, optional attendance)

  1. Online registration is open from now until 3/23 (Mon) (the course will open only if 20 people register.)
