Promoting the beauty of Xinhua Dakeding and raising funds for green environmental education
The election had just ended, and Lai Ching-te won by a large margin to serve another term as mayor of Tainan. Yet more than seven months earlier, in front of the Wude Hall in Xinhua District, Tainan, nearly 3,000 Xinhua residents poured in after 7 p.m., staging a sit-in protest out of worry that if Longdeng Global Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd. set up a plant in Xinhua, it might cause land pollution. Although the Longdeng plant case later ended when its construction permit expired, Xu Mingyang, convener of the initiating team "Tavocan Green Environmental Front," believes that to ensure no more manufacturers with pollution concerns move into Tainan, more people should see the beauty of Xinhua's rural areas, so that these forces can keep guarding "Tavocan."

The old name of Xinhua District, Tainan, is "Tavocan," a transliteration from the Siraya language Tavocan, the name of a 17th-century Siraya Pingpu settlement in Taiwan, meaning "land of mountains and forests." Xu Mingyang, convener of the "Tavocan Green Environmental Front" and also director-general of the Tainan Xinhua Community Development Association, had already been quietly working in the Xinhua area for more than four years before the Longdeng incident even happened, hoping through various activities and projects to let more people see the beauty of Xinhua.

After the Longdeng plant incident, the Xinhua Community Development Association brought together local citizens, ecological workers, environmental group alliances, lawyers, and environmental engineering scholars to organize the "Tavocan Green Environmental Front," which led the Longdeng case to later end when its construction permit expired due to delays in construction. Xu Mingyang said that although the Longdeng incident instantly accumulated a lot of local energy, if in the future they want to ensure the Longdeng plant case does not come back, or that other manufacturers with pollution concerns do not move into Tainan, more people must see Xinhua.
To this end, the "Tavocan Green Environmental Front" launched a crowdfunding campaign on flyingV, and will not only continue to attract people to come to Xinhua and get to know Xinhua through a farming friends story essay competition, a green and friendly market, friendly humanities lectures, and small farm-experience trips, but will also cultivate these people to guard Xinhua.
