The Changhua County Health Bureau recently launched a special tea beverage inspection program, carrying out inspections of chain hand-shaken beverage and tea beverage specialty stores throughout the county. A total of 47 items were sampled, and all test reports have now been released. This time, 3 additional non-compliant products were added, as follows:

(1) "Rose (petals)" sold by Xuanyang Industrial Co., Ltd. (9F, No. 76, Section 2, Nanjing East Road, Taipei City) to Ouke Tea Technology Co., Ltd. was found to contain the pesticide residue profenofos: 0.26 ppm, non-compliant (safe tolerance standard: 0.1 ppm for spices, herbs and other herbaceous plants)

(2) "Black tea" sold by Quanfang Tea Shop (No. 2, Lane 9, Changyu Street, Sanmin District, Kaohsiung City) to Jingda Food Enterprise Co., Ltd. contained fipronil: 0.009 ppm, non-compliant (safe tolerance standard: 0.002 ppm)

(3) "Jasmine green tea" sold by Weiqiao Enterprise Co., Ltd. (No. 97, Dazhuang Road, Jiahe Village, Nantou City, Nantou County) to Anqi Enterprise Co., Ltd., which then resold it to Nanhai Tea Dao, contained fipronil: 0.011 ppm, non-compliant. The cases have been referred respectively to the Taipei City Government Health Bureau, the Kaohsiung City Government Health Bureau and the Nantou County Government Health Bureau under their jurisdictions to trace the sources and other downstream distribution channels, and to handle them in accordance with the law.

Nanhai Tea Dao posted various compliant test reports on its own Facebook page, but was still found to have purchased tea leaves with excessive pesticide residues

Among them, Ouke Tea Technology Co., Ltd., on April 30, 104 ROC year (2015), the day when media reports said Xuanyang Industrial Co., Ltd.'s "Rose (petals)" was suspected of having pesticide residues, had already voluntarily reported to this Bureau, discontinued sales of its two products made with it, "Rose Flower Tea" and "Super Oil-Cutting Green Tea," and removed their online advertisements.

According to Article 15 of the Act Governing Food Safety and Sanitation, food with pesticide residues exceeding the safe tolerance level may not be manufactured, processed, blended, packaged, transported, stored, sold, imported, exported, used as a giveaway or publicly displayed. Violators may be fined not less than NT$60,000 and not more than NT$200 million. The Health Bureau calls on operators to implement self-management, do a good job of controlling raw material sources and monitoring health and safety, in order to protect the public's food hygiene and safety.
