Biya loquat opens spring pre-orders, golden and perfectly in season
Beyond Piyawo, a Different Kind of Loquat Now Available for Pre-order
It feels like it has been several years since the sweet, rich flavor of loquat in my memory has drifted further and further away. The loquats sold in markets are often watery and bland. Only later did I learn that the loquats sold by ordinary farmers are often harvested early at six or seven parts ripe, so they hit the market sooner and the selling period is stretched longer.
When we walked into the Piyawo tribe and met these Atayal farmers who hold extremely high standards for the quality of what they grow, only then did we rediscover the taste of loquat from childhood: golden-yellow flesh, a soft, fine, juicy texture, and a flavor that is sweet, rich and slightly tart. Each one of these loquats is truly different.
The high quality of Piyawo loquats has its origins in three commitments regarding Piyawo agricultural products
- A commitment not to use pesticides
- A commitment not to use chemical fertilizers
- A commitment to "ripening on the tree", harvesting only at nine parts ripe, so consumers can eat the sweetest fruit
Every loquat, rooted in the land and grown in nature, is the result of the tribe's farmers' careful daily tending. We hope this dedication and effort can also reach each of you in every city.
