Wei-I purchased feed-grade lard from Beihai for Wei Li to make Wei Li Zha Jiang bowl noodles, Yi Du Zan Old Crock Beef bowl noodles and other products, 204 items in total.
The list of downstream products from Beihai has been released one after another. A few days ago, Legislator Chen Chi-mai pointed out that Weiyi Company had still been buying from Beihai Oil until November last year, and there are still doubts about the products made from these oils. In response, Chen Chi-mai demanded that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) investigate the downstream product list of Weiyi Enterprise Co. Today, the FDA announced the items of products made by Wei Lih Food Industrial Co. from the lard it purchased from Weiyi Enterprise Co., which came from Beihai Oil, including I-Tsang Old Crock Beef Bowl 12-pack, Wei Lih Black Beef Noodle 12-pack, Da Gan Mian Oyster Sauce Fresh Vegetable Pack 30-pack 5-in-1, Fried Sauce Bowl 80g (single bowl 8-pack), and so on, with about 50 products each year, totaling 204 items over 4 years. (See the table at the end of the article for the list.)
A few days ago, Legislator Chen Chi-mai pointed out that Weiyi Company had still received Beihai oil products as late as November 6 and November 18 last year, and products made from these oils can be stored for about 14 months, so there are still doubts about these products. However, Weiyi's products were not announced in Beihai's downstream list. In response, Chen Chi-mai demanded that the FDA and the Tainan City Government Health Bureau investigate Weiyi's downstream products.
Today, the FDA announced the items of products made by Wei Lih Food Industrial Co. from the Beihai Oil lard it purchased from Weiyi Enterprise Co. between the years 99 and 102 of the Republic of China era (as shown in the attached table). These oils were shipped directly from Beihai Oil Company to the Wei Lih factory area, and the last batch of lard was purchased on November 18, year 102 of the Republic of China era. At present, this batch of lard had all been used up before January 4 this year, and the expiration date of the products made from the last batch of lard is July 4, year 103 of the Republic of China era.
At present, the Tainan City Government Health Bureau has not notified local health bureaus that Wei Lih's products need to be taken off the shelves, but once Wei Lih's products are reported as suspected of being adulterated with feed oil, local health bureaus will immediately require downstream manufacturers to remove them from the shelves.
Since New Year's Day this year, Beihai Oil Company and Xieqing Enterprise Co. have been suspected of adulterating feed oil into edible lard. On November 3, the Tainan District Prosecutors Office announced that suspected adulterated feed oil had been mixed in and then made into lard, and county and city health bureaus began successively investigating Beihai Oil's downstream products and announcing item lists. On the 14th, the investigation was concluded, and the person in charge as well as Beihai Oil Company and Xieqing Enterprise Co. were indicted.
