Screening and discussion session for the environmental documentaries "Energy Emergency" and "Addicted to Plastic"
The Homemakers United Foundation Taichung Branch will, in the week before Earth Day on 4/22, screen the environmental documentaries "Energy Emergency" and "Plastic Addicts," holding a joint study session on "energy transition" and "plastic-reduced living" to understand Taiwan's current energy situation and the hazards of plastic. Only by understanding a problem can we solve it; through talks and discussion, we will shape action plans to solve environmental problems, and truly put love for the Earth into practice!
Although awareness of environmental protection such as air pollution, climate change, waste reduction and plastic-free living has already been planted in our hearts through environmental education, the urgency of the problem is often overlooked in daily life. We who forget easily need to be reminded of the importance of the problem and prompted to act as soon as possible!

Afternoon session: "Plastic Addicts"
- Time: 4/15 (Sat) 14:00-17:00
- Location: Our classroom (2F, No. 61, Sanmin West Road, West District, Taichung City)

- Film introduction: A shocking journey of discovery that will fundamentally change your life! The director travels deep into the middle of the Pacific, to the sea areas piled with plastic waste, and recounts the course plastics have taken over the past century, revealing the environmental and social changes brought by plastic production. It also leads us to see with fresh eyes the men and women who devote themselves to changing the status quo, trying to open a new way forward for this industrial society built on plastic.
- Event description: When did our lives begin to depend on plastic? Do we see plastic products as convenient and indispensable birthday necessities? But the consequence of convenience is a string of unmanageable environmental disasters and health hazards! The speaker will share, from personal experience, the importance of reducing plastic and how to put plastic-reduced living into practice.
