Agricultural machinery emerging force competition: field robot R&D helps farmers
Taiwan's agricultural machinery R&D capabilities are astonishing and widely praised internationally, with annual export value reaching 100 million US dollars. Beyond being passed down within family businesses, this energy has also begun to sprout and grow in the biological mechatronics departments of colleges and universities. The annual "National Bio-Mech Cup Field Robot Competition" kicked off enthusiastically last Friday, fully demonstrating young people's "bio-mech" strength.
This field robot competition, held at National Formosa University, has now reached its ninth edition and is an annual highlight in the biological mechatronics field. The 24 competing college and vocational high school teams came from the north, central, and south of Taiwan, China to compete, bringing with them the fruit of several months of hard work: field robots.

Plant Factory Competition: National Pingtung University of Science and Technology Takes the Crown
On the other side, the sixth "Energy-Saving and Carbon-Reducing Plant Factory Monitoring Competition" was held simultaneously, with biological mechatronics students from various schools also competing. Participating teams had to regulate the monitoring items inside a plant growth chamber: temperature, humidity, carbon dioxide concentration, and photoperiod, in order to achieve the set targets. Within 15 minutes, the closer and more stable these environmental parameters were kept to the target values, the higher the score.
The competition results saw the team from National Pingtung University of Science and Technology, "Win Together Wildly, Lose Together Shouldering It," take the crown. Advising teacher Zhang Zhongliang said with relief, "They designed a new module that is more stable and can capture the system parameters." In the past, the top prize in this competition was always won by National Taiwan University students. This year, the National Pingtung University of Science and Technology students made a comeback, and being able to defeat such a strong rival was no simple feat.
The novel field robot and plant factory competitions concretely and minutely demonstrated the creative R&D and planning-execution abilities of agricultural machinery talent. In the future, when their learning is put into practice, it should be able to relieve farmers of worries and toil.
