Summer Teacher Workshop: Animals and My No-Go Zone of Freedom
| Animals and My No-Go Zone of Freedom - The Practice of Marine Environmental Education Teacher Workshop
The stars gently wake you from your dream, tail swaying softly Following the faint light, you poke your head outside the dream Do you see the world beyond the circle?
Because I have encountered beautiful, free souls in the wild over many years, I cannot stand by and watch the suffering of others; Because I have children of my own, I can no longer ignore how misguided life education keeps polluting our next generation. ========================================================================= The long-standing sea ban policy has made us fear the ocean, and distorted values have led us to neglect the enormous impact that misguided life education has on the next generation. When watching "animal performances" becomes a shared holiday leisure activity for parents and children, and when zoos become a safe option for school field trips, how do we explain true freedom of life to sensitive children? When children mindlessly throw food at animals and laugh mockingly, how do we convey to them the value of equality among all beings, deserving of respect and humility? Teachers engaged in educational work are absolutely a crucial link; for this reason, we hope to invite teachers to spend their time and effort working together with Kuroshio. However, in the past, teacher training did not particularly emphasize captivity issues, and teachers were unable or never understood the importance of promoting marine education on campus. Therefore, while implementing marine life education in schools, how to first raise teachers' awareness of animal welfare and captivity issues should be a pressing priority. This is exactly the kind of progressive support that Kuroshio, with its long-accumulated related investigations and development, hopes to bring to participating teachers. Starting from understanding, starting from education, shifting the perspective to begin from the animal as subject, no longer centered on humans as spectators. —————————————————————————————————————————– The camp will be held in Hualien during the summer vacation, targeting teachers from public elementary and junior high schools nationwide. It is hoped that this camp will serve as a beginning, with the goal of enhancing teachers' ability to understand and be aware of captivity issues, filling the current shortage of captivity-related content in marine education, helping teachers deepen their understanding of animal welfare, and further cultivating marine life education in public elementary and junior high schools.
