International Symposium on the Struggle Over GMOs and the Future of Food

The "GMOs and the Future of Food" International Symposium invites MIT scholar Dr. Stephanie Seneff as the keynote speaker. Dr. Seneff is a senior scientist at the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the United States. During her studies she majored in biology at MIT with a minor in food and nutrition, and later earned her doctorate from MIT's Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Her recent research has focused on exploring the links between toxic environmental chemicals and contemporary diseases, and over the years she has published numerous papers on this topic together with collaborating scholars. Because it is widely and mistakenly believed that Roundup is non-toxic and it is therefore used indiscriminately, Seneff points out that it is in fact the most important chemical toxin in today's environment.

Professor Guo Huaren of the Department of Agronomy at National Taiwan University, Swedish scholar at NTU GMBA Prof. Miriam Garvi, and partners from local agriculture, civic action, education and other fields will also speak from their individual professional perspectives, jointly raising questions and imagining the future of Taiwan's GMO issues and food under the influence of globalization.
