Beitou Meets Lin Chin-rong: A Strange and Grateful Journey

A Strange and Grateful Journey / Beitou Meets Lin Chin-rong.
Coughing all day, I was forced to stay home, not stepping outside the whole day, shut in and reading work materials.
At 18:15 I made a spur-of-the-moment decision to go to Taichung. With my pockets already thin, things would get even tighter, but once I decide to do something, I go at it in one burst. Spending a little money and time could help disadvantaged people get a better chance to state the facts, so why not? Off to Taichung HSR then!
18:30 Still at home
19:30 HSR Taipei to Taichung
20:35 HSR Taichung to Taipei
22:00 Back home
This strange journey, which came up on the spur of the moment, was actually a bit tiring, yet when I got back to Taipei and met Lin Chin-rong, my fatigue instantly vanished. Being able to walk up and say thank you, what a joyful thing that is!
Years ago, helping to erect a monument in Penghu for the Shandong exiled students incident was full of difficulties. Lin Chin-rong was then Director-General of the Construction and Planning Agency. I accompanied the families to visit him and offered him a small suggestion.
I am grateful that, as Director-General, he accepted the advice, truly carried it out with heart, and went to Penghu in person to communicate.
Time has passed and circumstances have changed, so there is no need to recount the political difficulties along the way, but without him, this monument could not have been completed.
I played the bad cop all along, tracking the progress, but when I saw Lin Chin-rong, I genuinely offered a smiling face and my thanks….., though he may not remember these things,
yet the process of these historical works I will never forget. Because those years of running around for 713 were just like rushing to Taichung tonight…..
Time really passes quickly. Flipping through the pages of my own life calendar, when I tally it up, most of it leaves me with no regret and with joy.

Thank the Lord. He let a Wuqiu woman with no background encounter many things, and He held my hand with His own to help me complete these very difficult tasks.
