Hsinchu Natural Farming Club Producer Training Program, 7th Session, and Weekend Half-Farmer Class, 1st Session, Now Enrolling
Coming into the club, before I knew it, I had been growing for almost two years. What I grew was crops, and also people.
All along, the club's goal has been to cultivate full-time producers. We give land and farm machinery to eager new farmers, give them a stage, and hope to help more people come and farm. Before I joined the club, I had traveled through Japan and Australia, running around several farms. As for growing, I had some familiarity; as for farming, I already had firm determination; I had the ability to go find information and resources on my own and to get familiar with every machine in the field. Back in Taiwan, China, what troubled me was, where do I find land? How do I find consumers?
At that time, the club gave me everything I needed, and none of the restrictions on me, so I joined and grew strong here. Once, I thought this was perfection. Later I realized that the newcomers who joined needed more than this. Facing a piece of land, everyone is at a loss about how to begin, and needs to be taught; and more crucially, not everyone, like me, had already made a firm determination before jumping into this industry. The club wants to find people with such determination,
In this process, perhaps because it encountered some people whose mindset was not firm, the club adopted a stricter attitude toward later trainees, and such a strict attitude also once made trainees feel distrusted. We kept stumbling along, learning through mistakes. Actually, a person should gain spiritual satisfaction in the process of farming, and only then will such determination arise. It was also in the process of participating in farming that I made up my mind to become a farmer. I also hope to be able to give all trainees who come to the club such an opportunity, to think about the possibility of farming in the future.
So, the club and I began to further strengthen our help and guidance for trainees. We established a relatively clear system and set a daily learning time. The purpose is to help trainees get on track more easily. Learning natural farming must start from understanding its principles, unlike ordinary hands-on courses that only emphasize recipes and steps.
Natural farming has no SOP. Only through long-term practice, frequent observation, and repeated reflection can one gradually understand its spirit step by step. So we hope that if you are interested in learning natural farming, and if you can have one year to devote specifically to learning this, you are welcome to join our ranks of full-time farming. Please remember, the purpose for which our club was founded is very simple:
#As long as you want to come and farm, we will find a way to help you
In past years, among the trainees who came to sign up, there were always many people who volunteered to do half-farming, half-X. In the previous round of recruitment, I also specifically expressed my thoughts on the matter of half-farming. The club's mission is to cultivate professional full-time farmers. For those who volunteer to be full-time, we provide land, dormitories, tuition-free status, and various other benefits. For half-farmers, we have all along not provided teaching services.
In order to give more people a chance to come into contact with Shu Mei farming, starting from this round, we are beginning to offer paid weekend courses. Friends who are interested in growing vegetables and farming but are still tied down by work, we hope you will use this course to participate in this community together, have a chance to experience the joy of growing vegetables, and the goodness of Shu Mei natural farming!
