Text/Council of Agriculture
To promote food and agriculture education, the Council of Agriculture will hold two selection campaigns, the "Food and Agriculture Education Promotion Plan" and the "Excellent Curriculum Program Integrating Food and Agriculture Education into Elementary Schools," hoping that schoolchildren can understand "Where do the ingredients for school lunch come from?" through hands-on activities and curriculum learning, and by experiencing the process from production to sales in rural villages, come to know local agriculture and dietary culture, cultivate local low-carbon eating habits, and understand the meaning of the Four Labels and One Q mark, so as to expand the concept of food and agriculture education and achieve the effect of rooting it from the ground up.
In the submission campaign, the "Food and Agriculture Education Promotion Plan" welcomes rural communities, companies, civil organizations, or schools at all levels to submit proposals by May 31; the "Excellent Curriculum Program Integrating Food and Agriculture Education into Elementary Schools" welcomes elementary school teachers interested in promoting food and agriculture education to actively submit proposals by July 31.
The "Food and Agriculture Education Promotion Plan" selection campaign drives urban-rural exchange
The Council of Agriculture pointed out that because the target audience for food and agriculture education is broad, it includes students at schools at all levels (elementary and junior high schools, senior high schools, universities) and the general consuming public. To make food and agriculture education experience activities more diverse, the units solicited this time to carry out food and agriculture education promotion plans include rural communities, companies, civil organizations, or schools at all levels. The activity content may choose any domestic agricultural product as the main axis of the promotion plan, and must include at least 3 activities: food and agriculture experience, understanding and supporting local industries, and food safety (Four Labels and One Q).
The council estimates it will subsidize 100 cases, with the maximum subsidy amount per case of NT$150,000, and will also provide a mentoring mechanism for each unit to improve its planning and implementation capabilities.
The "Excellent Curriculum Program Integrating Food and Agriculture Education into Elementary Schools" selection campaign integrates food and agriculture into school curricula
The Council of Agriculture explained that, in order to integrate food and agriculture education into existing curricula in elementary schools such as science and life technology, social studies, arts and humanities, and health and physical education, this selection call for proposals takes lower, middle, and upper grades of elementary school as the teaching targets, and plans teaching content of at least 4 class periods, so that students can understand the sources of school lunch ingredients through the curriculum and value the characteristics of local agricultural industries and dietary culture.
This year the council will select 15 winning works (5 each for the lower, middle, and upper elementary grade groups), with a maximum prize of NT$30,000, and a mentoring team will be organized to assist with trial teaching, review, feedback, and other reward mechanisms. It is hoped that a complete food and agriculture education teaching model can be established and provided to other schools for use, so that more students can understand the journey of food from farm to table.
From farm to table, everyone is invited to participate together
The Council of Agriculture emphasized that this "Food and Agriculture Education Promotion Plan" seeks 100 implementing units, divided into a schoolchildren group and a general group, and will successively provide various types of food and agriculture education experience activities starting in August this year. In addition to letting the schoolchildren group understand the sources of school lunch ingredients, the general group invites everyone to participate together, so that all people can understand knowledge related to from farm to table and from the production end to the consumption end, and increase their recognition, trust, and support for domestic agricultural products, diet, and rural culture.
