Session 1 5/30 (Sat) Wax Apple, Pingtung Mingshan Organic Farm

"As long as someone needs the wax apples I grow, I will keep working hard to supply them!" He hopes to deliver this rare fruit into the hands of those who can enjoy it with delight. – Gong Mingshan

The road to organic cultivation of wax apple has not been an easy one, but the cruelty of reality has not crushed his determination. Since taking full charge of the orchard from his father in 2008, he switched to a gradual, non-toxic management model, starting with reducing pesticide use and moving step by step to pesticide-free cultivation, in line with organic certification standards! In September 2015, he will formally pass the three-year transition period certification and obtain the organic certification mark.

Session 2 5/31 (Sun) Yuhebao Lychee, Pingtung Lishan Farm

Fruit trees are like my children; watching them grow up healthy makes me feel all the effort has been worth it! – Lin Renshan

A retired pharmacist, Lin Renshan only entered agricultural production at age 50. Starting as a complete novice who knew nothing about Agriculture 101, he took classes and sought mentors everywhere for more than ten years, finally building solid skills, and he also holds certifications and qualifications such as HACCP and organic auditor! Under his mentor's guidance, Lin Renshan took the path of growing Yuhebao lychee... but the busy farm work made him seem to abandon home and family, and at one point his husband could not bear it, getting so angry he wanted to saw down the fruit trees! But after more than ten years, the fruit trees have already given the couple the sweetest reward!

Session 3 6/7 (Sun) Pineapple, Kaohsiung Yugeng Organic Farm

Refusing pesticides, chemical fertilizers and growth hormones is the best way of production for oneself, one's family and consumers. – Wu Dongxing

As a member of a large family that grows pineapples, Wu Dongxing spent most of his youthful years in pineapple fields. In the early days he followed traditional cultivation techniques, but merely touching pesticides triggered severe allergic reactions - his whole body would swell and redden, his internal organs would swell and cause vomiting and asthma. Wu Dongxing's care is such that even the core of his pineapples is sweet and delicious; after chilling, one bite is like a popsicle or ice cream bar. All his persistence in being friendly to the land - eaten in the mouth, sweet in the heart! For the health of himself and his family, he no longer uses pesticides, chemical fertilizers or growth hormones. Even after losing money for many consecutive years, this honest man, like a "Taiwan ox", refuses to go back down the old road.
