The Petty Citizen's Culinary Advance: Marseille Basket Friends Meetup, Issue 3

Previous article mentioned the experiences of small farmers taking part in AMAP, and the contribution of the agronomy advisor system to raising the quality of farms; so as consumers, besides buying, what else can we do for community-supported agriculture organizations?

As for me, I have been in the Marseille basket members' group vegetable basket for four years now, and last year I finally mustered the courage to serve as the chicken order coordinator, ordering only once a month, so it is not too busy. The willingness of our basket to order chicken is not high, and I think it is fine if people do not want to eat meat, but to avoid making the farmer friends feel let down, my strategy is to attach a YouTube cooking tutorial or a funny short video, one item each time I send out the order email, and of course the theme is chicken. But over the past year the gags have nearly run out, and the order numbers have not exploded because of it either (everyone just replies to me: "So funny, haha, thanks, bye!"), so I am currently looking for a new strategy.

This year I also served as the coordinator for eco-friendly cleaning products, and thanks to beginner's luck, the "performance" of the first group-buy I initiated actually reached more than twice that of previous coordinators. When the sales rep came to deliver the goods, he happily stuffed a pile of freebies for me, saying that working with me was really such a pleasure, that your vegetable basket really is getting better and better, and that it is so good to have people like you! Me, I am not going to easily believe what a sales rep says…… But still, basket friends, let us go on the attack together!
