Introduction to the Lunshan Tribe

The Lunshan Tribe is located on a gently sloping platform at the northernmost edge of Zhuoxi Township in Hualien, at the junction of Ruisui and Yuli. In the earliest days, Bunun people migrated here from Nantou; as the tribal population grew, they built long houses, one after another extended family living in each. The people call this land Duqpusan, Lunbushan, meaning "the long place," telling the story of the land's origins; the "long house" became the symbol of the tribe and also tells its people of the bustle and prosperity of days gone by.
