Grandpa and Grandma hand-pick peanuts, more precious than handmade Milan packages
Editor's note: The author's grandparents grow peanuts in Miaoli, and the author also joins Grandpa and Grandma in the fields, documenting what their farming life looks like. The author, currently studying in a university fine arts department, says: "Harvesting peanuts is truly hard work, and in a way it is even more delicate than a handmade bag from Milan. Grandpa and Grandma are sculptors of nature; to me these fruits are even more exquisitely crafted than handmade bags." This season's peanuts have already been harvested, and purchasing information is included at the end of the article. Friends who are interested, please take a look!

Going back to Miaoli on leave always feels like a "vacation," the happiest time of all: eating three meals a day with family, and in the afternoon going to the seaside to listen to the waves gently striking the sounds of my hometown. Living in the city, this used to be a given for me, but now it is something I can only wish for.
By the time I got up in the morning, it was already noon with the sun beating down. Still drowsy, I went downstairs to look for food, and my mother said at the computer desk: "This morning your grandpa called and said he couldn't find your dad. He wanted me to find him, because this afternoon the peanuts in the field are to be harvested." I looked at the clock in surprise. There was not much time to pull peanuts, and with only five or six hours in an afternoon, how much of the crop could be harvested? To be efficient, I ran out the door with the keys without washing my face or brushing my teeth, and rushed to the farm up in the hills.
As the car drove past the temple entrance in Tongxiao, I glanced at the coconut vendor by the roadside. I braked sharply, rolled down the window, and casually said: "Two large bottles of coconut water." Cooling down and reducing internal heat are probably what Grandpa and Grandma need most when busy in the fields!
Don't doubt it, this one basket is our harvest today, not two rows! Harvesting peanuts is truly hard work, and in a way it is even more delicate than a handmade bag from Milan. Grandpa and Grandma are sculptors of nature; to me these fruits are even more exquisitely crafted than handmade bags.
