Happy Farm Help Request: Brother Zhu Needs Your Help!
Brother Zhu is a very different kind of production partner - with a professional background, he has mentored many production partners in growing flowers; he has managed farms, and ran a breeding company in Vietnam... A big windstorm in Vietnam toppled the fruits of many years of hard work, and with regret he closed his company in Vietnam and returned to Taiwan.
The first time I talked with Brother Zhu, I did not know his background; it was only because his rigorous attitude and professional care showed through in the conversation that I felt a great deal of respect for him in my heart. At a turning point in his life, Brother Zhu became acquainted with the Friendly Earth Organic Alliance, and through many interactions, his identification with and confidence in the idea of "green agriculture, friendly environment" grew. So when Brother Zhu was pondering his next stage in life, he put devoting himself to organic agriculture among his considerations. In the eyes of the Alliance partners, he is a person who is strict with himself and worthy of trust, exactly what the Alliance was looking for... So we encouraged him to go out and run a farm on his own. Starting a farm is not easy! Funds and helping hands were lacking in every way, but in the end he accepted this challenge, found a plot of land in Huwei, Yunlin, and prepared to work with Friendly Earth to supply the needs of elementary and middle school group meals in New Taipei City.
Thus, a new farm began operating, and the certification application was launched at the same time... During the process, Brother Zhu took care of his farm with great care, and the bok choy he grew was healthy and beautiful; even the helper who came to plow the field said, "Even the ones with pesticides sprayed on them aren't this beautiful." The leafy greens grew... The delivery schedule set to begin in November drew closer day by day. The production records, growing environment, water, soil, and crop tests were all problem-free, but the organic certificate could not arrive on schedule because of the certification paperwork... In the end, it was confirmed that this batch of leafy greens would not make it in time to be delivered to New Taipei City elementary and middle schools under an organic transition status.
Brother Zhu panicked. Could the 1,200 kg of bok choy per week only be sold at no regard for cost to the wholesale market for conventional vegetables?
Through this process, we thought deeply about a question: this partner has both the heart and the ability to grow good things, and this bok choy really was cultivated without pesticides and without chemical fertilizers, yet because of the system it could not be sold as organic... The certification system is a management standard and cannot be broken; but what about the partner's hard work? How should fairness and compassion both be taken into account? The only opportunity is the power of mutual aid in society!
So Friendly Earth once again launched a subscription support campaign... For this batch of environmentally friendly small leafy greens, we uniformly offer them at a price of 43 yuan per kilogram, supplied in 10-kilogram boxes (refrigerated home delivery, shipping calculated separately: for one shipment to one location, President Transnet_150 yuan per box, 100 yuan per box for five boxes or more; T-cat_220 yuan per box).
We expect the Happiness Farm to have a certificate gap period of two to three weeks, with an output of about 1,200 kg per week... This week we are supplying tender and juicy lotus leaf bok choy, and next week iron-rich, high-calcium, nutritious and delicious komatsuna... We need everyone to contribute money if they have money, and effort if they have effort. The amount does not need to be large; five hundred or one thousand is all help. Let us together help Brother Zhu's Happiness Farm get through this difficult stage.
The farm named itself "Happiness Farm": the owner hopes that everyone who eats healthy and safe vegetables will have a feeling of happiness; and friends joining hands to help lets Brother Zhu feel that on the road of "organic" he is not alone.
"Healthy and safe" plus "joining hands to help" lets this happiness be passed on...
