Great Rice Recipes! An Illustrated DIY Recipe Guide to Nan'ao Natural Rice
Text and photos by Mama Chen
Holding Nan'ao rice in my hands
my heart is moved
my palms feel warm
eating well starts with rice
Nan'ao
a land I had never walked
yet I can taste rice
from Nan'ao Natural Farm
so moved, thank you
Untying the hemp rope
only then did I begin
to know Nan'ao
to know Natural Farm
and to learn that this natural rice
comes from three men with a dream
I carefully place the rice
on a piece of unbleached cloth
closely, quietly, watching
the grains of rice
thinking in my heart how to cook
this precious rice
of course it cannot be just
plain rice
Carefully washing the rice
putting it in the rice cooker
cooking good rice
this rice is quite sticky
so I made
Nan'ao roast pork rice burgers
Pan-fried salmon
mixed with Nan'ao rice
made a batter, cracked in an egg
made an egg crepe
inside the egg crepe
wrapped rice, corn, shredded cheese
the first time making it this way
the taste was great
at breakfast
enjoying fresh rice egg crepes
Cooked rice paste
flour, rice paste, cooked rice, sweet potato
made into sweet potato oatmeal toast
the texture became very dense and soft
you can taste the fragrance of rice
this Nan'ao rice bread
so moving
In the rice dough
wrapped
rice, corn and cheese balls
honey red beans
small cup buns
made breakfast different
