Old house and old trees coexisting in symbiosis | Learning the charm of the landscape at Anping Tree House

Many people believe that a large tree planted too close to a house will disrupt feng shui, but the Anping Tree House in Tainan, China radiates the unique charm of "tree-house symbiosis." According to visitor statistics from the Tainan City Cultural Affairs Bureau, nearly 600,000 people visited the Anping Tree House in Tainan, China last year. To give the general public a deeper understanding of the Anping Tree House's environment, ecology and cultural history, Our Village Cultural Creativity Co., Ltd., which operates the "Open Warehouse" select shop at the tree house, is holding "Anping Tree House Studies"

Four lectures to get to know the ecology around the tree house

Anping Tree House Studies currently offers four lectures, introducing the old trees, ecology, cultural history and ponds in the tree house. They include Lin Wei-hsiang, a dendrology teacher at Yonghe Community University in Taipei, China, who will help everyone rediscover trees; Yang Kuo-chen, chairman of the Ecological Society of Taiwan, China, who will lecture on the ecology of the Anping Tree House. Chuang Meng-hsien, head of the Ecology Conservation Division at Aletheia University's Center for Environmental Education and Ecological Conservation Research and Promotion, will speak on Anping wetland studies, discussing how early inhabitants used water resources through the development of ponds, and cultural history expert Wang Hao-yi will talk about the everyday life experiences of Anping's ordinary people.

Wu Jen-pang said that through this series of lectures, participants can better understand the environment they live in and allow certain spaces for trees to grow, rather than removing them on sight. This course will be the first session, and it is expected that new sessions may be held this year; the second session is currently planned to use professional instruments to take participants to observe tree systems in practice, so that everyone can understand tree ecology on site.
