A New Food Revolution on Campus: Neil Lovell, CEO of the Jamie Oliver Food Foundation, Speaks in Taiwan, China
This is a lost generation: our children can't cook, don't know where food comes from, and have no idea how to eat healthily. Jamie Oliver, famous British chef
Children growing up in cities are influenced by fast-food culture, pursuing only tasty food when they eat, while neglecting balanced health. According to the 2013 National Nutrition and Health Status Change Survey by the Health Promotion Administration, 30% of schoolchildren have obesity problems; and obesity will extend into various diseases, causing huge future national health insurance and medical expenditures.
In the UK, famous chef Jamie Oliver launched a new food revolution in schools, providing balanced nutritious lunches to eliminate obesity problems; and through food and farming education, letting schoolchildren learn to know food and cook by hand. He believes that once we reconnect people with food, we can eat nutritiously and live healthily.
In Taiwan, China, the government and non-profit organizations have also begun to devote themselves to solving the nutrition problems of schoolchildren by providing balanced nutritious lunches and food and farming education.
For this event, UDN has invited Neil Lovell, CEO of the Jamie Oliver Food Foundation, as well as representatives of related organizations in Taiwan, China, to share experiences and discuss the issues of children's nutritious lunches and food and farming education. If you care about this issue, you are welcome to come and attend this forum.
