A sustainable Earth needs organic even more! Jointly guided by the Agriculture and Food Agency of the Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan, the Department of Environmental Protection of the Taipei City Government, and the Taipei Water Department, and jointly founded by organic farmers from all over Taiwan and the Taipei Cultural Exploration Association, the Water Garden Organic Farmers' Market, in response to the Earth Day series of events organized by the Taiwan Environmental Information Association, will hold an extraordinary "Organic Earth Theater" - Taiwan Water Dance over the two weekend days before the 2013 World Earth Day, telling the story of local organic agriculture through physical performance! On April 20, for the first time, volunteers from the Non-GMO Group of the Homemakers United Foundation will be invited to promote the concept of a non-GMO diet, combined with the resource recycling promotion activities of the Department of Environmental Protection of the Taipei City Government, plus the "Organic Earth Market" and the "Organic Earth Lecture" by the market's guiding professor - Professor Kuo Hua-jen of the Department of Agronomy at National Taiwan University - and other series of activities. On the following day, April 21, the market will move to the National Taiwan Science Education Center in Shilin, Taipei, to participate in the "Shui Shui Market" event of the Taiwan Environmental Information Association's Earth Day. Both days of activities are jointly assisted by the National Teachers' Association of the R.O.C. (Taiwan), hoping to take another step toward the ultimate goal of "Organic Earth, Organic Taiwan".

Organic Earth Market

To put into practice the ideal of equality and care for the Earth symbolized by the equal day and night of the spring equinox Earth Day, the Water Garden Organic Farmers' Market and the Water Garden Living Creative Market openly invite farms, kitchens, non-profit organizations, community groups, and even individuals. As long as they can put into practice the ideal of friendly care for the Earth, after confirmation by the organizers, all are welcome to come to the Water Mist Garden Plaza in the Taipei Water Park every Saturday from 1:00-6:00 pm within one month starting from Earth Day to exhibit or perform and share their ideas and practices. All sectors are welcome to join in this grand occasion.

Since March 23, the Water Garden Organic Farmers' Market has actively added many farmers and stalls that can put the concept of Organic Earth Day into practice to jointly participate in the market, including the Jinming Natural Farm, the main grower of organic sugar apples and organic loquats in all of Taiwan; the Shengye Organic Farm of the Bliss and Wisdom system, which grows various organic fruits; and in the Water Garden Living Creative Market, the Veggie Blessing Dumpling Workshop, which uses organic vegetables and fruits from the Water Garden Organic Farmers' Market and organic flour rolled into wrappers to make dumplings; the French baking artist Tutti Lab, which strives to use natural materials and ingredients from the Organic Farmers' Market and realizes authentic French flavors, has for the first time launched organic rice bread; and the super hand-made sachima made by Huangjin Mazi using all-organic flour will also debut this Saturday. At the same time, volunteers from the Non-GMO Group of the Homemakers United Foundation are also invited to enthusiastically promote the concept of a non-GMO diet at the market, while at the book exchange stall, storytelling mothers will share more vivid stories, so that children and even adults can enjoy the beautiful sharing of the global village at the market!

Beauty is the greatest driving force in human life. Inspiring ecological care through world-class dance aesthetics will even more effectively activate the life action power of aesthetics. During April 20-21, the Water Garden Organic Farmers' Market has specially invited outstanding ecological art creators such as the Dance Ecology Creative Team. By breaking through the limitations of the stage with performance forms and the power of dance, they tell the story of Taiwan's local organic agriculture and water, presenting with the most elegant world-class modern creative dance - Taiwan Water Dance - a stunning display of ecological art care at the market.

Organic Earth Lecture

Pure knowledge is the power to transform life! The Organic Earth Lecture series will likewise invite all sectors to cooperate in promoting knowledge and action on various topics related to organic diet and environmental ecology at the market. First, on the afternoon of April 20, the market's guiding professor, Professor Kuo Hua-jen of the Department of Agronomy at National Taiwan University, will speak at the Water Garden Organic Farmers' Market on the unimaginably close relationship between organic agriculture and Earth's ecology, and at the same time cooperate with the Environmental Education Center of the Taipei Water Department on multiple organic parent-child DIY activities led by the market's small farmers.

In addition, in response to the World Earth Day series of events, the Department of Environmental Protection of the Taipei City Government and the small-farmer volunteers of the Water Garden Organic Farmers' Market jointly call for source reduction, and this Saturday will continue to lead everyone with practical action to practice a plastic-reduced life. On that day, in addition to the free distribution of recycled soil and prize-winning quiz activities, the public who bring unwanted waste dry batteries, waste CDs, and old books from home to the market can exchange on site for exquisite small gifts such as a limited 180 ultra-fine fiber wiping cloths, 600 eco-tech foam sponges, and 150 double-layer sanded small bowls, all free of charge. It is hoped that by advocating the good habit of resource recycling, Earth's resources can be sustainably developed, creating a better living environment for the next generation.
