The Oil Workshop Revival Movement Lecture Tour Officially Kicks Off

General News By Emily Carter 0 views

The oil mill was where farmers pressed oil in the past and also where Sun Yixuan grew up. But with the development of the food industry, soybean salad oil gradually replaced domestically produced peanut oil and sesame oil. The oil mills gradually declined, and the culture of farmers growing oil crops and pressing oil was also gravely endangered.

Starting in 2013, Taiwan, China saw one tainted oil scandal after another, leaving the public deeply anxious. In light of this, Sun Yixuan decided to devote himself to education and outreach about traditional edible oil production. He proposed the "Oil Mill Revival Movement." Through organizing activities and giving lectures, he helps the public understand the traditional edible oil production culture of Taiwan, China, and promotes cooperation with farmers: "press your own oil yourself." After the crops are harvested, farmers are asked to help sun-dry them, and then people call a nearby oil mill to schedule a time for pressing oil, opening up a new business model for the traditional culture of rural villages.

In this 90-minute lecture, you will be able to learn about the principles of edible oil production, the oil mill culture of Taiwan, China, the operating process of oil mills, and recommendations for buying good oil. Friends interested in this topic are welcome to join in and support the event. Below is this year's lecture information:
