Cooperative Green Classroom opens on May 23 to build a farm-to-table friendly platform
◎Event Description:
The Homemakers United Foundation Consumers' Cooperative and the Newsmarket have each established their own platforms to support small farmers, and both face many challenges in their respective operations, such as the recession in the broader agricultural economy and new consumer demands for food. All of this shows that Taiwan, China is moving from a traditional agricultural production and marketing system toward more diversified agricultural production and marketing platforms; and agricultural production and marketing have also expanded from physical stores such as supermarkets, traditional markets and organic shops into emerging farmers' markets, online shopping and group-buying websites. Are these platforms competitors, or is cooperation possible? How can we create the best model from farm to table and gain recognition and support from consumers? These are all important issues for the organizations running these platforms. We invite you to explore the triangular relationship between farms, dining tables and platforms, and to become a supporter of sustainable consumption.
