The Council of Agriculture (COA) announced on May 5 this year the Key Points for the Accreditation of Eco-friendly Farming Promotion Groups and the Key Points for Organic and Eco-friendly Farming Subsidies, and the new "eco-friendly farming subsidy" scheme is about to officially launch on September 1, with nearly 1.3 billion yuan in funding expected to be invested, encouraging farmers to shift toward eco-friendly and organic cultivation. Under the powerful incentive of "eco-friendly farming subsidies of up to 90,000 yuan per hectare per year," various eco-friendly groups have successively applied for accreditation as recognized groups, so that they can apply for subsidies on behalf of farmers in the future; and farmers engaged in eco-friendly farming are also eager to know: what are the qualifications for subsidy applications? Which promotion groups are there? How does the accreditation procedure work?

News Glossary: Currently, the number of farms in our country that have passed organic certification is 2,915 farms, covering an area of 6,979 hectares, accounting for about 0.8% of the total cultivated land area in the country. The COA hopes that by the end of 2017, the area including organic and eco-friendly farming can reach 10,000 hectares. The organic subsidy budget for 2016 was 270 million yuan, and in 2017 it also rose sharply to 1.294 billion yuan, encouraging farmers to switch to organic or eco-friendly cultivation.
