One-Day Experience Camp: Making Suancai (Pickled Cabbage) at Biwaiwuyao Farm
Pickles are truly the wisdom of the ancients! Through the pickling process, winter's abundant vegetables can be preserved by natural fermentation, letting everyone eat vegetables all year round. Nowadays, it can also solve the problem of winter vegetable overproduction!
Since the year before last, Taiwan Original Flavor has been teaching the tribal farmers who grow vegetables to start pickling vegetables the traditional way. Thanks to the Biya tribe's uniquely favorable climate, every Napa cabbage grows sturdy and strong, making it suitable for making suancai (pickled cabbage). All you need is simple coarse salt, clean mountain spring water, and Napa cabbage; then you simply wait quietly for changes in time and temperature, and after a month you can enjoy suancai! (No vinegar needs to be added at all!)
This time we invite friends who are interested in making suancai to come up the mountain with us and experience the fun of making suancai. In one day the tribe expects to process 500 jin of Napa cabbage, learning through experience while also working alongside the tribe. Everyone is welcome to sign up!
