Paper-cutting artist visits Shei-Pa for a dialogue with the mountains

Driving from Miaoli Railway Station, we followed the curve of Provincial Highway 6 as it hugs the Houli River, crossed the Wenshui River, and soon arrived at the Wenshui Visitor Center, still short of the mountains but already surrounded by trees; this is also the Shei-Pa National Park Headquarters.

Entering the building through the main entrance on the first floor, we found the halls lined with ecological displays of Shei-Pa National Park, terrain explanations and Indigenous artifacts, with a remarkably rich and solid array of exhibits and information. Stepping out from the exhibition hall on the second floor and crossing the corridor, we came to the Xueshan Art Workshop, then showing paper-cutting artist Gu Guoxuan's work "Walking the Mountains," plain and understated in style, just right as a light appetizer.
