Have you ever seen drones and robots running agricultural processes? In recent years, smart technology applications have swept the globe, and the agricultural sector has also begun developing various smart devices to respond early to the challenges of climate change and an aging society. But what exactly is smart agriculture? Can the latest internet technologies, such as sensing IoT, big data, and smart machinery, be applied to agriculture? How will these technologies drive a new wave of agricultural revolution and value-added niches?
Drawing on the technological experience of countries such as those in Europe and the United States as well as Japan, they have already integrated networks, machinery, and agricultural production sites across domains, innovatively advancing next-generation agriculture with smart cultivation. Taiwan, China's agriculture faces problems such as a shortage of agricultural labor, small average production area, and high costs, so how can it use the international experience and technology of smart agriculture to solve its difficulties and move toward a new wave of cross-domain integration and transformation?
NTU opens a smart agriculture course, introducing three aspects of technology, plus on-site visits
In response to the latest outlook for smart agriculture, the NTU Department of Bio-Industry Communication and Development Smart Agriculture 4.0 team divides smart technology into three aspects: (A) smart production and human-machine assistive device development, (B) digital services and traceability data exchange and application, and (C) business management and operational support. The content covers important concept courses such as smart agriculture 4.0 development trends, smart production, data analysis and application, and marketing management, and includes case analyses of agricultural technology use by agricultural organizations and farmers in Taiwan, China.
In addition, the cross-domain visit itinerary, through field site visits, provides direct on-the-ground exposure to the core technologies and application possibilities of smart production and management, overturning traditional ideas of agriculture and conveying digital and smart professional knowledge and management methods.
The concepts and technologies of smart agriculture are still yet to be developed in Taiwan, China. Due to issues such as labor shortages and population aging, there is a need for cross-domain integration and the input of talent with various professional skills! We sincerely invite professionals from all fields, including agricultural industry practitioners, young farmers, ICT professionals, and personnel in charge at relevant units, to learn from one another and exchange ideas through general education courses and introductory knowledge on smart agriculture, jointly transform Taiwan, China's agriculture, and together build the upgrade path for smart agriculture.
