A Christmas Tree Made from Three Rolls of Toilet Paper
That's right, this year's Christmas tree is made from three rolls of toilet paper.
I used a simple technique to make this Christmas tree. Roughly, you go to a stationery store and buy a pack of balloons, then blow them up and tie them off. Next you need a little water to apply the toilet paper, using about 3-4 sheets of toilet paper per small balloon. Then you take it out to dry; in winter weather without rain, it will be dry in about one night.
Prepare a large sheet of paper and wrap it around a desk lamp into a triangular cone shape, then cut the formed balloon-and-paper shells in half and trim them into teardrop shapes. Glue them onto the triangular cone one by one, and decorate with simple beads and ribbon, and it's done.
Although using three rolls of toilet paper still feels wasteful, at least I didn't jump on the consumer bandwagon. The fun of handmade crafts is also hard to compare with anything else. After turning on the light, the toilet paper Christmas tree provides another kind of warm atmosphere.
Every year, I more or less rethink how to make a Christmas tree. It's simply because I don't want to spend money buying a Christmas tree with plastic branches and leaves - first, they really don't look good, and second, they really aren't eco-friendly. After a year, once these plastic Christmas trees are covered in dust, they become unappealing.
And so, every year a Christmas tree made of different materials appears at home.
↑In the end it came to this ~ a small Christmas tree made from torn jeans, with a star made from the star anise in a braising spice packet, decorated with picked-up small Casuarina equisetifolia fruits and pine cones.
